President's Message

On behalf of the Theta Epsilon Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, welcome to our official website.  Theta Epsilon Omega was chartered on January 17, 1965 in New Haven, CT by fifteen dynamic women.  Throughout the chapter's 57 years of service to the Greater New Haven community, its members have executed impactful programs focusing on youth and family.  We are proud to be a chapter upholding the Sorority's 114-year legacy of sisterhood and commitment to "supreme in service to all mankind."

It is my sincere honor and privilege to serve as the President of Theta Epsilon Omega Chapter.  Our chapter is committed to the bond of sisterhood and serving the community with excellence.  We are comprised of over 80 distinguished women who reaffirm our commitment to social, economic and educational advocacy.  Since our chartering, we have provided over $150,000 in scholarships to college-bound students, and we have fostered relationships and partnerships with many organizations and businesses within our community.

Theta Epsilon Omega is excited and stands committed to implementing the 2018-2022 International Program under the theme Exemplifying Excellence Through Sustainable Service led by our esteemed International President, Dr. Glenda Baskin Glover. Our programs of service have been designed to support this vision through the following Targets:

  • Target 1:  HBCU for Life: A Call to Action
  • Target 2:  Women's Healthcare and Wellness
  • Target 3:  Building Your Economic Legacy
  • Target 4:  The Arts!
  • Target 5:  Global Impact

The Signature Program is #CAPSM which is the abbreviation for College Admissions Process.  The program is designed to assist students in their efforts to enter college by providing a hands-on approach that includes all the steps from researching various colleges to completing the application process.

As we forge ahead, continually creating opportunities for our youth, we value collective efforts in building community and welcome opportunities to create new partnerships.  If your organization is interested in collaborating and utilizing collective resources with a shared vision, please email me at

We invite you to tour our Chapter website and view frequently for upcoming events, programs and information.  Please follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter for updates on programs and events.

Yours in service,

Shenae Draughn
