President's Message
On behalf of the 88 dynamic members of Theta Epsilon Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, it is my pleasure to welcome you to our home on the web!

Founded on the campus of Howard University in 1908, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® is an international service organization dedicated to addressing the complex political, social and economic needs of our community.  Today over 280,000 members stretching from New Haven to Dubai enhance Alpha Kappa Alpha's legacy of being supreme in sisterhood, scholarship, and service.  Locally, the Theta Epsilon Omega Chapter fulfills this mission through a number of initiatives such as our Project ASCENDSM program for young girls, our Community Impact Days, environmental ownership initiatives, civic engagement activities, health awareness seminars, and cultural appreciation events.  We are a lead organizer of the Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Conference that helps hundreds of area residents honor Dr. King's legacy through service.  Each year our chapter members devote over 5,000 volunteer hours to various service initiatives.

Since its chartering in 1965, Theta Epsilon Omega Chapter has placed a particular emphasis on student development and achievement.  We are committed to making sure that financial need doesn't prevent bright scholars from achieving success.  To date, we have disbursed more than $150,000 in scholarships and book awards including donations to the United Negro College Fund.  Unlike many other scholarships offered locally, our signature AKA Scholarship is renewable for up to four years and provides important financial continuity throughout a student's college years.  Theta Epsilon Omega is inspired by our past and committed to our future.

I count it as a tremendous blessing to serve as Theta Epsilon Omega's President as we carry out the Sorority's 2014-2018 International program of service, Launching New Dimensions of ServiceSM.  We will continue to develop innovative programming to address Educational Enrichment; Health Promotion; Family Strengthening; Environmental Ownership; and Global Impact.

We look forward to partnering with other community leaders and organizations to enhance the quality of life for residents across Greater New Haven.  Please continue to visit our website, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter pages to learn more about our programs, scholarships, and fundraising events.  We appreciate your support and encouragement!

In Solidarity and Service,

Khalilah
